Jackson Bottom Wetlands

Overview

Farmington View students continue to benefit from our partnership with Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve through a project called “Science In Our Community: From the View to the Slough.”  The purpose of the project is to increase student achievement in science, math and technology through research and study of water quality, weather, and aquatic life, specifically related to the Tualatin River watershed and the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve.

The partnership between Farmington View and Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is touted as a model project for environmental education. Students are able to learn about the flora and fauna of the wetlands from experts in the field and visit the Preserve to study and conduct research. Our goal is to teach investigative skills through scientific inquiry and promote environmental awareness. There are opportunities for students to participate in service learning projects, field trips, etc.
